The mission of the Collegiate Community Committee is to foster a diverse, accessible, welcoming, and respectful community for students, faculty, and staff at the University of Iowa College of Law through community-building endeavors. To this end, and consistent with our accreditation standards and state and federal law, the Committee’s charge is as follows: 

  • Organize community-building endeavors (events, initiatives, and educational opportunities) that promote collaboration among students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to evaluate and advise on the effectiveness and sustainability of collegiate community-building endeavors; such efforts include monitoring progress and addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Assist the College of Law in meeting its universal competencies by undertaking efforts to foster a welcoming and respectful workplace environment while recognizing personal differences. 
  • Consistent with sound legal education policy, assist the College of Law in meeting its accreditation standards by working to provide full opportunities for the study of law and entry into the profession by members of underrepresented groups.
